Dr Neelesh Tipnis

Neelesh Tipnis, M.D., Professor in Pediatric

Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, earned his

Medical Degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin,

Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Tipnis completed his residency in General

Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at the

University of California, San Diego, CA. Recently, he served as

the Associate Professor and Paul H. Parker Professor/Chair of

Pediatric Gastroenterology at the University of Mississippi

Medical Center, Jackson, MS. Dr. Tipnis has also served as the

Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San

Diego, CA and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical

College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI. In addition, he has served as the Director of

Gastrointestinal Motility and Functional Bowel Disorders Program at Children’s of

Mississippi and Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego. As the Director of the

Gastrointestinal Motility and Functional Bowel Disorders Program at Children’s of

Alabama, his vision is to improve the quality of life of families with children with troubling

GI problems, such as feeding intolerance, swallowing disorders, and refractory

defecation disorders, by incorporating advanced functional testing modalities into the

evaluation and offering interdisciplinary treatment modalities. Dr. Tipnis’ research

interests focus on elucidating the causes functional gastrointestinal conditions such as

globus sensation, gastroesophageal reflux disease and constipation.
